Being a responsible corporate citizen means more than just a financial commitment to a cause or an organization. It means participating as an active member of the community in which we do business. GE MDS’ commitment to the communities we do business in is exhibited through three main areas of focus: Celebrating Science and Math Along with providing equipment, technical services and instructors to Rochester Institute of Technology, Monroe Community College and many other organizations, we also proudly sponsor Science Saturdays, a yearlong event at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Science Saturdays programming is designed for middle, junior and senior high school students and their families to experience science in a fun and informal setting throughout the year. Many employees participate in a specially designed "GE MDS Saturday" to work directly with students from the community. Our volunteers share their knowledge and passion for math, science and technology, and of course radio! Creating a Healthy Community Encouraging and Rewarding Volunteerism We encourage this involvement through our “GE MDS…Volunteers with Frequency” initiative. Employees are given two paid days to use for community service volunteer efforts, which might include departments planned outings, United Way’s Day of Caring, or a personal volunteer effort. Employees are also recognized for their efforts through an annual event where the company makes a donation in their name to their charity of choice. GE MDS employees also participate in annual food and clothing drives for our neighbors strengthening our ties to the community. The United Way’s Volunteer Connection is a great resource for finding volunteer opportunities throughout our community. |
