Non-Warranty Overview

Warranty Overview | Non-Warranty Overview | Extended Warranty Overview

GE MDS services all GE MDS manufactured products after the Standard Product Warranty and/or LEDR Product Warranty period expires. GE MDS applies a Flat Rate for Non-Warranty Servicing, which includes small components, labor, alignment, final test and polling of GE MDS manufactured products.

The standard cycle time for Warranty, Non-Warranty and Extended Warranty product servicing is eight (8) business days for Non Tier 1 customers and five (5) business days for Tier 1 customers.

Expedited (3) Day servicing is offered to customers at premium rates to address high priority and/or emergency situations. The Product Services Representative or Product Services Supervisor or Manager must authorize all expedited service requests.

The following exceptions apply to the Non Warranty Flat Rate Pricing Structure:

  1. For services requiring the replacement of major assemblies (such as: Power Supplies Assemblies, TCXOS, Battery Assemblies, Logic PCB Assemblies, Receiver Transmitters Assemblies, Filters, Cable Assemblies, etc.) the cost of the replacement assembly will be in addition to the Non-Warranty Flat Rate.
  2. For servicing requiring extensive labor (i.e. Lightning Damaged), GE MDS reserves the right to double the Non-Warranty Flat Rate or determine that the cost of servicing exceeds the replacement cost. If that is the case the customer is provided a quote for replacement via phone or fax.
  3. For equipment shipped to GE MDS improperly packaged, for Warranty equipment GE MDS reserves the right to void warranty. The standard flat rate for service can be applied, plus charges for items that need to be replaced due to the damage from being improperly packaged.
  4. For equipment shipped to GE MDS improperly packaged, for Out of Warranty equipment GE MDS reserves the right to double the standard flat rate for service, plus charge for items that need to be replaced due to the damage from being improperly packaged.

The standard flat rate will apply for Non-Warranty returns, which are determined to be "no problem found".

The standard flat rate will be waved for Non-Warranty equipment deemed unrepairable. The equipment can be scrapped out at GE MDS or return to the Customer as is. If the customer requires the unrepairable equipment returned then the Customer will be responsible for the return freight charges.

For unrepairable units a Replacement Unit will be offered at a discount. The option to purchase the replacement is valid only for that SRO. If the customer elects for No replacement and the SRO is closed, and the disposition of unrepairable unit has already be completed, the special replacement radio cost will not be valid.

The customer will be responsible for all Non-Warranty product return freight charges.

Non-Warranty Flat Rates are defined in the GE MDS Product Services Pricing Matrix. Non-Warranty Rates are subject to change as business conditions dictate without advanced notification.

Exclusions to Non-Warranty coverage are the same as defined earlier in the Warranty Overview section.
