These are some of the major systems provided by GE MDS Wireless Systems Group. ![]() Equitable Production - Gas Well SCADA ProjectMDS iNET 900TM and MDS TransNET 900TM point-to-multipoint radios, were selected by Equitable to automate more than 4,000 natural gas wells across West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky. The SCADA communication network uses Equitable's existing LAN/WAN decentralized infrastructure and the advanced license-free iNETâ„¢ and TransNETâ„¢ radios in the three state area for the transfer of remote well site data to the host computer center located in Charleston, West Virginia. The high data throughput the radios provide (iNET at 512 Kbps and the TransNET at 115 Kbps) meet Equitable's current data requirements and will accommodate future growth and network expansion as well. The radios also provide drive up mobile connection to Equitable's LAN system via an iNET radio and laptop computer in their field-service vehicles. This allows for mobile data acquisition and trouble-shooting (remote diagnostics) at work sites providing huge benefit where resources are concerned. GE MDS performed site surveys, system design, integration and installation supervision. The extremely rugged terrain required extensive propagation studies using EDX Engineering's SignalPro propagation design software to resolve the radio system architecture and connectivity back to a local server in the LAN/WAN system. In addition to the radio equipment, GE MDS provided outdoor enclosures and the antenna system. SNC Lavalin - PEA Thailand DA/DMS ProjectUHF communications subsystem for the monitoring of pole top and substation RTU's. The system consists of over 98 MDS 4790 master stations and over 2,300 MDS 4710 transceivers. GE MDS is responsible for the system design and integration of the UHF communications subsystem, and the integration of the radio subsystem into the existing microwave and TDMA backbone system. GE MDS is providing all associated equipment, including DC power systems, antennas and transmission lines. ![]() Valley Electric Power CorporationThe system consisted of thirteen hops of MDS 900S digital radios and two hops of 2.4 GHz spread spectrum radios. The project included licensing, supply and integration of radio and multiplex equipment, DC power systems and outdoor enclosures. The radio links terminate to the utilities substations and offices to provide SCADA, telephone and LAN interconnect circuits. ![]() City of Lubbock - Water System MonitoringSCADA system for monitoring flow rates at 256 water wells. The system consists of five hops of MDS 960D radios and multiplex connecting four MDS 9820 spread spectrum MAS master stations a central monitoring location. The remote radios consist of a combination of MDS 9810 RTU transceivers and MDS 9870 package models. GE MDS provided the system site survey, licensing, system design, integration and installation. GE MDS provided all DC power systems, antennas and transmission lines. Amfas Electronics Ltd. - Afribank Communications NetworkThe system consists of MDS 960D, 950D and 400S series digital radio links connecting the bank headquarters in Lagos with fourteen branch offices in the Lagos area. The system was implemented in several phases. The GE MDS radios are used to provide a Wide Area Network (WAN), allowing Afribank to automate account transactions within the Lagos area. ![]() Sainco - National Gas Corporation of Trinidad(Communications system to support voice, LAN, video and SCADA circuits.) ![]() CEGELEC - Power Company No. 2, Vietnam(Distribution Automation system for the electric utility serving the Ho-Chi-Minh City area) Monroe County Emergency ServicesThe system consisted of ten MDS 950D radio links, two 2.4 GHz T1 spread spectrum links and two 5.6 GHz 2xT1 spread spectrum links. The project included a site survey and path design, licensing, supply and integration of radio and multiplex equipment, the supply of antennas and cabling, DC power systems, outdoor enclosures and installation. The radio links terminate to the counties high-capacity backbone and are used to provide voice circuits to voting receivers in the counties emergency dispatch system. ![]() Motorola Israel, Kenya Pipeline, KenyaThis system consists of eight MDS 460D radio links interfaced to the existing Kenya PTT backbone. The links provided the SCADA, telephone, fax, and mobile radio communications circuits from a pipeline control center to pump stations and oil storage facilities. As part of the order, we integrated the Motorola mobile radio equipment at its facilities. China Light & Power, Hong Kong(Distribution Automation system for the electric utility in the Hong Kong area) Bruswich Nigeria Ltd. Free Trade Zone, Nigeria(Private telephone network for Free Trade Zone in Port Harcourt, Nigeria) IVO International - Belize Electric, BelizeThis system consists of eight MDS 960D hot-standby point-to-point radio links interfaced to a Power Line Carrier (PLC) system. The links provided the main communications circuits to the Control Center, as well as spur links to power stations and distribution substations. The system provides SCADA, telephone, mobile radio, and transfer trip circuits. Jamaica Public Service CorporationThis communications system consists of twenty-three MDS 950D radio links operating at 384 kbps and twenty-four MDS SST1 spread spectrum radio links operating at 1.544 Mbps. The radio links are used as low-capacity spur links off the high-capacity backbone system. The system includes three different digital multiplex systems. The radio links terminate at JPS Co. power stations, distribution substations and offices. They provide SCADA, telephone, mobile radio, transfer trip, and high-speed data circuits. Anadarko Petroleum CorporationThis communications system consists of two MDS 960D hot-standby point-to-point radio links, one fiber optic link, seven MDS 2130 hot-standby MAS master stations, and approximately 500 MDS 2310 RTU transceivers. The system collects SCADA information for Anadarko's gas collection and distribution system plant. The point-to-point radios and multiplex were integrated and system tested by GE MDS. Madison Gas and Electric - RTU Radio Communications SystemThis communications system consists of seven MDS 960D hot-standby point-to-point digital radio links, four fiber optic links, seven MDS 2130 hot-standby MAS master stations, and 140 MDS 2310 RTU transceivers. The system collects SCADA information for MG&E's electric and gas distribution network and power plant. The point-to-point radios, fiber optic modems, and multiplex were integrated and system tested by GE MDS. |
